The building and the opening of a school always mean that steps are being taken towards liberty and democracy.’
André SAINT-GEORGES vice-president of ANAPI, former chief inspector of schools This nursery school is attended by homeless children from age 3 to 7. Once they are 7 years old, they will go to primary schools then on to secondary schools. At the end of 2001 Mrs TRAN TO NGA asked Jack BONFILS to have a big nursery school built in Saigon on a piece of land that was owned by her family, right in the centre of Saigon. Vietnamese partners participated up to 60% of the global cost of the building. The school was inaugurated in 2002. It is attended by 200 pupils, 80% of whom are abandoned children. Following the success of this school, Jack BONFILS asked the ANAPI Board of directors on May 13th, 2003 and the general assembly on May 14th, 2003 to agree to the project of an annex to the school. The annex of the nursery school in Saigon is due to open in 2004. It could accommodate another 180 to 200 pupils
